Hearst Castle is a National Historic Landmark and California Historical Landmark mansion located on the Central Coast of California, United States. Designed by architect Julia Morgan, it was a residence for newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst between 1919 and 1947. Hearst formally named the estate "La Cuesta Encantada" ("The Enchanted Hill"), but usually called it "the Ranch". Hearst Castle and grounds are also sometimes referred to as "San Simeon", without distinguishing between the Hearst property and the adjacent unincorporated area of the same name. Hearst died in 1951, and it became a California State Park in 1958. Since that time, it has been operated as the Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument, where the estate, and its considerable collection of art and antiques, is open for public tours.
The Grand Rooms Tour, recommended for first-time visitors, is 60 minutes long and includes approximately 140 steps, both up and down, and 2/3-mile walk. Tour highlights include Assembly Room, Refectory, Billiard Room, Theater, Gardens, Neptune Pool and Roman Pool.
Two pools can be found at Hearst Castle: the Neptune Pool and the Roman Pool. Each one is truly unique. They were the settings for lively parties, social gatherings, exercise, and recreation.
Lastly, we would visit the Elephant seal Vista Point to witness the adorable elephant seals in their own habitat.
